Pink Jeep Tours to Open In Grand Canyon


If you have ever taken a trip to Sedona, Arizona i'm sure you have heard of the infamous Pink Jeep Tours. It features a car climbing adventure up the rocky terrace of the Arizona desserts. Now travelers to the Grand Canyon will be able to experience this unique ride down one of Americas most ubiquitous tourist spots. It opened on August 1st to generally positive reviews. Grant Ferguson, Marketing Director of the Pink Jeep Tours, stated “The Grand Canyon made a lot of sense geographically,When other tour companies are scaling back, we are stepping up our game and providing visitors what they want — more adventure, sightseeing and enjoyable tour opportunities in our existing markets of Sedona, and Las Vegas and now at the Grand Canyon"

Only two companies responded to the request, The American Bantam Car Company and Willys-Overland. The Army had set what seemed like an impossible deadline of 49 days to supply a working prototype. Willys asked for more time but were refused. The bankrupt American Bantam Car Company had no engineering staff left on the payroll and solicited Karl Probst, a talented freelance designer from Detroit. After turning down Bantam's initial request, Probst responded to an Army request and commenced work, initially without salary, on July 17, 1940.
